- The word occult describes secret or hidden knowledge, usually of a mystical nature. Occult practises are often described as occultism. Practicioners are called Occultists. See also Western mystery tradition.
- In astronomy, occultation refers to the event in which one celestial body passes in front of another, blocking it from view.
- In Islam, the occulation is the name given to the disappearance of the Twelfth Imam.
- In DC Comics, Doctor Occult is a magic-using detective character.
- In medicine, fecal occult blood is a term for blood present in the feces that is not visibly apparent.
