The Northern dimension is an initiative in the European Union regarding the cross-border and external policies covering Nordic countries, Baltic states and Russia. Its goal is to increase cooperation and address specific issues in this geographical region. It reflects the change in geographical and political balance since the inclusion of new members to the European Union during the last decade, including Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
