North Veluws

North Veluws is a Low Saxon dialect from the Dutch province of Gelderland. This dialect is spoken in different villages in the Veluwe: Nunspeet, Hulshorst, Vierhouten, Elspeet, Putten, Ermelo (Armel), Uddel, Nijkerk (Niekaark), Harderwijk (Harderwiek), Scherpenzeel ens.

Veluws is usually spoked by elderly people and sometimes younger people as well but already with a more Dutch influence in their language. Veluws is a commonly accepted Dutch dialect because most people can understand it reasonably well. Momentarilly a regional dictionary is constructed and will most likely be finished end this year.

Veluws is language which hangs between Dutch and Low Saxon but is viewed upon as Low Saxon. Words like: look (onion), zund (shame), laand (land), he'j (do you have), hen (have), bin (are), waarken (work), zeunig (crib), schik (fun), vretten (food) are very well know and especially "mien jong (m'jong)" (my boy/son) and words like "tied (time)" and "ies (ice)" are used by many people in The Netherlands.

A special writing system has been developed for Veluws and Low Saxon. This is a newer version of the previous one used in the 15th century as official language. The language is called "AS" (Algemene Schryvwyse; Common writingsystem.)

Noord-Veluyws is 'n Nedersaksisch dialekt van de Nederlandse previncie Gelderland. Et woerdt esproken in verschillende Veluywse darpen, u.a. Nünspeet, Hülshorst, Vyrhouten, Elspeet, Pütten, Armel, Üddel, Nykark, Harderwyk, Scharpenseel ens.

Veluyws woerdt vöyrnaamlik thuys esproken döyr oudere minsen en sommige jungeren, mer dan al meer mit 'n Nederlandse invluud dan huyly grootouders. Veluyws is 'n algemeen eaksepteerd dialekt ümdat de meeste minsen et wel begrypen kün. Momenteel woerdt der ewarkt an 'n WGD (Woordenbuuk van de Gelderse Dialekten) en is lichtkans eynd dit jaar klaar.

Et kenmarkende van et Veluyws is dat et 'n soort van overgangsgebyd is tüssen et Nederlands en et Nedersakisch, et woerdt echt tot et Nedersaksisch erekend. Woorden soas: look, sünd, land, he'j, hen, bin, warken, soenig, schik, vretten bin ysig bekend en vöyral "myn jung (m'jung)" en woorden soas "tyd" en "ys" woerden döyr vöyle minsen gebruykt.

Vöyr et Veluyws en et Nedersaksisch is der 'n bepaalde schryvwyse untworpen. Et is 'n vernying van de vrugere schryvwyse dy in de vuyvtynde (15e) eeu gebruykt wyr en 'n officiële taal was. Disse schryvwyse heet "AS" Algemene Schryvwyse.
