North Anatolian Fault Zone

The North Anatolian Fault Zone (NAFZ) is a 1600 km long geologic fault between the northern edge of the Anatolian Plate and the Eurasian Plate in northern Turkey. A series of 12 earthquakes of magnitude 6.5 or greater have occurred along this fault between 1939 and 1999.
