No More AOL CDs

From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

No More AOL CDs is an organization dedicated to stemming AOL's CD distribution methods. AOL routinely attempts to generate revenue by sending unsolicited mailings to consumers. These mailings generally contain a CD-ROM and a registration key that allows someone a free trial to America Online. In addition, AOL had marketing relationships with multiple retailers, including Barnes and Noble and Walmart. Some magazines send AOL CDs with their magazines unsolicited (the CDs, not the magazines).

No More AOL CDs exists to change that. On their web site, they request that people send unwanted AOL CDs to them. When they acquire 1,000,000 AOL CDs, they intend to personally deliver all of them to AOL headquarters. This is attempt to show AOL the severe environmental damage their campaign contributes to.
