Nagapattinam

Nagapattinam (formerly known as Negapatam and also as Shiva Rajadhani) is a small city with a population of about 100,000, located in coastal Tamil Nadu, India. It is located close to many temples, hosting the Soundararajan Perumal Koil, Neelayatakshmi Amman Koil and close to church at Velankanni and the mosque at Nagore. It is about 8 hours south of Chennai by road.


Nagapattinam was one of the regions severely affected by the tsunami which followed the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake.
