- Meridian is also an online game, Meridian 59 (http://www.meridian59.com/) one of the first online game to be released at retail, developed by Andrew and Chris Kirmse of Archetype. They finally hit the market in early 1995 and were bought by 3DO Entertainment. The game was bought by Near Death Studios from 3DO in 2001 after 3DO shut down all of their servers and has been running since then.
