List of TIME Magazine's 100 most influential people of the 20th century
From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.
The List of TIME Magazine's 100 most influential people of the 20th century (called the "TIME 100" for short) is a list of the 20th century's most influential politicians, artists, innovators, scientists and icons, compiled by TIME Magazine. It consists of a total of 100 people, 20 each in five different groups.
The list was started with a debate at a symposium at Washington, D.C.'s Kennedy Center on February 1 1998 (participants: CBS news anchor Dan Rather, historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, former New York governor Mario Cuomo, Condoleezza Rice, neoconservative publisher Irving Kristol and TIME managing editor Walter Isaacson) and ultimately published on June 14 1999 in a special TIME magazine issue titled "TIME 100: Heroes & Icons of the 20th Century".
