Lázaro Cárdenas Batel

Lázaro Cárdenas Batel (b. 1964) is a Mexican politician, a member of the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD). He is the current (2002–2008) governor of the western state of Michoacán.
Cárdenas Batel is a member of a distinguished Mexican political family: his grandfather, Lázaro Cárdenas del Río, served as president in the 1930s, and his father, Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas Solórzano, has been a presidential candidate on three occasions and was the first democratically elected Head of Government of the Federal District.
