Kylix programming tool
From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.
Kylix is a Linux version of the Borland Corporation's Delphi and C++ Builder development environments for Microsoft Windows. Kylix allows programmers to develop software applications for Linux using Object Pascal, C++, or C.
Currently, the tool seems to be in trouble as there are no indications a new version (Kylix 4) is coming up. There is no upgrade path to Delphi 2005, and Delphi 2005 does not seem to include the CLX Library support. Furthermore, the last official supported versions of Linux are: RedHat 7.2, SUSE 7.3 and Mandrake 8.2. It will work with more recent versions but requires some research on the web to make sure you get older versions of glibc and make other changes to the default environment.
