Kurdistan Province, Ottoman Empire

The province of Kurdistan was established by the Ottoman Empire following the suppression of Bedirhan Bey's revolt in 1847. The area of the province (or vilayet) was populated mostly by Kurds, for whom the province was named. A few years later the province was abolished.
