Krishnagiri

Krishnagiri is a town in Tamil Nadu state of southern India. It is the administrative headquarters of Krishnagiri District.

Krishnagiri District has an area of 5143 km², and a population of 1,546,700 (2001 census). It is bounded on the west and north by Karnataka state, on the east by Vellore District, and on the south by Dharmapuri District. Krishnagiri District was created in 2004, when it was split from Dharmapuri District.
