Koulikoro

Koulikoro is a town in Mali. It is the capital of the Koulikoro Region, the second administrative area of Mali. It is located on banks of the Niger river, 59 km of Mali's capital Bamako.
The Cercle of Koulikoro is divided into 10 communes: Dinandougou, Koula, Meguetan, Nyamina, Sirakorola, Tienfela and Tougouni. It has a population of 118,686 inhabitants.
Koulikoro is very industrialized. It is the terminus of the railway line Dakar-Niger. It is an important port, and between August and November, at the end of the rain season, the Niger River can be used to transport goods to Ségou, Mopti, Tombouctou and Gao.
