Kikuyu Central Association

From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

The Kikuyu Central Association (KCA) was a political organisation in Kenya which acted on behalf of the Kĩkũyũ community by presenting their problems to the British government; Kenya was a colony of Britain at the time. The Mau-Mau were an offshoot of the organisation. A large part of its agenda was grievance for loss of the most productive land to the British settlers. The organisation was characterised by being heavily tribalist, as it main members were Kĩkũyũ. The organisation was formed in 1924, and notable members were Dedan Kimathi and Jomo Kenyatta, the first president of Kenya.
