Khar

Khar is the name of a railway station on the Mumbai suburban railway on the Western Railway railway line. It is a suburb of Mumbai. The suburb has one of the largest Sikh populations in Mumbai.
The Suburb of Khar also has the fishermen folk area Danda, also known as KharDanda. The other part of Khar is mostly a calm residential area. Due the close proximity of Bandra, Khar has started to grow in terms of Office Buildings, Shops and Commercial places.

History
The 'khar' comes from Marathi word khara which means salty, as most of the Khar, Bandra area was nothing but marsh lands of Salty sea water.
