Johannes Aventinus

Johannes Aventinus (1477–1534) was a Bavarian historian and philologist. His real name was Johann Georg Turmair, and "Aventinus" is a latinization of his birthplace, Abensberg. He was in communication with Philipp Melanchthon and Martin Luther. Ludwig I of Bavaria had Aventinus' bust erected in the Walhalla temple.
