Johann Wilhelm Meigen

Johann Wilhelm Meigen (Solingen, 3 May 1764 - Stolberg, 11 July 1845) was a German entomologist.
He is perhaps best known today as the naming authority of the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster, which is a model organism in the study of genetics.
