From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.
Joe Watson (born July 6, 1943 in Smithers, British Columbia) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. He played defence for the Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers, and Colorado Rockies during his National Hockey League (NHL) career. He played on the same team with his younger brother Jim for several seasons while in Philadelphia.
Watson suffered one of the most severe broken legs in NHL history, an injury that ended his playing career. In a game against the St. Louis Blues in 1978-79, Watson was checked into the boards by a Blues player and the impact broke his leg in 14 places. He lay in a St. Louis hospital for two months recovering from the injury.
