Jesse D. Bright

Jesse D. Bright (December 18, 1812May 20, 1875) was a Democratic Senator from Indiana during the period of March 4, 1845 to February 5, 1862. He was born in Norwich, New York and moved to Madison, Indiana in 1820.

As Senator

Bright was elected in 1845 to represent Indiana in the United States Senate. He kept his post until he was expelled from the Senate, in 1862. This was due to Bright's recognition of Jefferson Davis as the President of the Confederate States of America and support of the rebellion.
