Iron(II) chloride
From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.
The chemical compound iron(II) chloride, also called ferrous chloride, is an inorganic metal salt. It is produced by treating iron or steel with hydrochloric acid.
As this product is often considered as the waste product of steel treatment, it is also designated spent acid, especially when the hydrochloric acid is not completely converted. The spent acid was typically applied as waste water treatment chemical, but becaese of the high content of heavy metals, notably out of the steel, this practice has been ended.
