From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.
Huang Na (1996-October 2004) was an eight-year old Chinese national found dead in a cardboard box at Telok Blangah Hill in Singapore after a nation-wide search which stretched to Malaysia. Due to the high publicity the searching effort had generated, the tragic outcome was generally greeted with shock by the Singaporean public.
At the end of the search, murder suspect Took Leng How, a stallholder at the Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre and personal acquitance of Huang Na's mother, was tracked down and arrested in Malaysia. Controversy surrounded the case, particularly as a result of local newspapers offering suggestions that the mother herself may be a murder suspect.
On 14 June 2005, the case's Preliminary Inquiry will be presented to the High Court, and the case proceedings scheduled to take place from 11 July to 29 July. 75 witnesses are expected to take the stands during the trail.
