Horde (Warcraft)

From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

The Horde is one of the major factions in the Warcraft universe — a fictional universe in which a series of games and books are set.

In Warcraft: Orcs and Humans the Horde was referred to as the Orcish Hordes and was composed of only the Orcs. In Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness the Horde consisted of the brutal, demonic Orcs, the Goblins, the Ogres, and the Forest Trolls. After Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness the Orcs' allies abandoned them. In Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos the Orcs were freed of their demonic curse and allied themselves with the noble, shamanistic Taurens, and the newly reformed Darkspear Jungle Trolls (with some help from the Stonemaul Ogres in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne). In World of Warcraft, the Horde formed a loose alliance with the Forsaken, a group of Undead who broke free of the Lich King's control.

The wary, though official, truce with the Alliance to fight the invasion of the Burning Legion in Warcraft III still exists in World of Warcraft, though the Horde is at war with Illidan Stormrage's Army, the Burning Legion, and the Scourge.
