Hongshan Culture

The Hongshan Culture was a Neolithic culture in northeastern China. Named after a site discovered in 1935 in Hongshan District, Chifeng, Hongshan (Chinese 红山) sites have been found in an area stretching from Inner Mongolia to Liaoning and Hebei, and date from c. 3500 - c. 2500 BC.
Hongshan grave goods include some of the earliest known examples of Chinese jade working.
