Hermann Schlegel

Hermann Schlegel.

Hermann Schlegel (1804 - January 17, 1884) was a German ornithologist. Schlegel was born at Altenburg in Saxony and studied in Vienna. He joined the staff of the Leiden museum in 1825, and was director from 1860 until his death.
