Hamatocactus (in Latin, hooked cactus) is a genus of cactus.

Description
These species are globulous to slightly cylindrical. The trunk is green-greenish, sometimes bluish or even brownish-reddish. There are 12 to 14 ribs. Flowers are tunnel-shaped and are 2.5 to 7.5 cm long. Some flowers have yellow petals and a red gorge while others are entirely yellow or brown-violet. Fruits are round or ovoid, 2.5 cm to 5 cm long.

Distribution
They live in the Southwest of the United States and in northern Mexico.
