George Lyon

From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

George Lyon, born in Rothesay, Scotland 1956 is a Liberal Democrat Member of the Scottish Parliament. Previously a Vice-President, then President of the Scottish National Farmers' Union, he joined the Liberal Democrats not long before he was first elected to the Scottish Parliament (to represent Argyll and Bute) at the 1999 election. It is rumoured that John Swinney, the then Vice-Convenor of the Scottish National Party had tried to persuade him to join the nationalists.

He was re-elected in 2003 and is currently a co-convenor of the Scottish Parliament's Cross-Party Group on the Scottish Economy.
