From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

General Mitchell International Airport is an airport located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, IATA code MKE, ICAO code KMKE. It is the only passenger air terminal in metropolitan Milwaukee. The airport is the main hub of Midwest Airlines. It is named after United States Army Air Service General Billy Mitchell.

Mitchell Field has sometimes been described as Chicago's third airport, as many Chicago travellers seek to avoid O'Hare International Airport or Midway Airport. It is also used by travellers throughout Wisconsin and Northern Illinois as an alternative to other local airports.
