The futur proche is a French verb tense used for expressing the future. It is simply a combination of the verb aller ("to go") with the inifinitive form of the verb "to be done in the future". It is the simplistic form of expressing the future, the other being the futur simple.
It is extremely similar to the the English construction to go + infinitive. (E.g., I'm going to go; he was going to eat, we're going to take the cake.)
Examples:
- Nous allons manger une pizza.
- We're going to eat a pizza
- Je vais partir
- I'm going to leave
- Ils vont prendre le bus
- They're going to take the bus
(One can also translate these sentences into English using "will".)
