Federalism

Federalism is a system of government in which power is divided between a central authority and constituent political units (like states or provinces). One example of this is the United States and the division of power between the national government and the state governments.

Federalism can refer to:

  • The form of government, or constitutional structure, found in a federation.
  • The political philosophy of federalists.
