The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco is the federal bank for the twelfth district in the United States. The 12 districts make up the central bank. The twelfth district is made up of nine western states—Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington—plus American Samoa, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco has branche offices in Los Angeles, Portland, Oregon, Salt Lake City, and Seattle. It also has cash processing center in Phoenix.
The twelfth district covers about 1.3 million square miles (36% of the nation's area.)
In 2003 the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco processed 11.8 billion currency notes and 1.7 billion commercial checks.
The bank is located at 101 Market Street.
