Elephant & Castle station in Elephant and Castle in the London Borough of Southwark, England is an interchange complex consisting of a National Rail station, serving various suburban stations within south London, and a London Underground station. The complex is on the boundary between Travelcard Zone 1 and Zone 2.

London Underground station

The Underground station is on the Bank branch of the Northern Line, between Kennington and Borough. It is the southern terminus for the Bakerloo Line, the next station being Lambeth North. The Underground station has two ticket halls, one for each line on opposite sides of the northern of the two roundabouts at Elephant and Castle.

There are no escalators. To get from either ticket hall to the platforms, it is necessary to use lifts or very narrow and steep spiral stairs.

The Northern line building has been demolished and rebuilt, and was reopened on December 12, 2003. It is near to the National Rail station, but to go from one to the other it is necessary to exit and walk through or round the Elephant Shopping Centre.

The Bakerloo Line hall was opened on August 5, 1906, and a tunnel interchange to the Northern Line platforms provided a few days later on August 10, 1906. It was closed between November 9, 1996 and July 14, 1997.

National Rail station

Services from the National Rail station are run by Thameslink (between Luton and the Sutton/Wimbledon loop) and South Eastern Trains (between London Blackfriars and Sevenoaks).
