From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.
Isobel Marion Dorothea Mackellar (1 July 1885 Sydney-14 January 1968 Sydney) was an Australian poet.
Although raised in a professional urban family, Dorothea Mackellar's poetry is regarded as quintessential bush poetry, as it is inspired by her experiences on her brothers' farms near Gunnedah in the north-west of New South Wales.
Her best known poem is My Country, a poem about Australia's varying geography and climate.
