Dordogne River

From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

The Dordogne is a river in south-central France.

The river rises in the Auvergne mountains, flowing about 500 km in the Limousin and Perigord regions before joining the Garonne river, north of Bordeaux.

It is one of the few rivers in the world that exhibit the phenomenon known as a tidal bore.

The valley of the Dordogne is scenic and popular with visitors, and as a result the region has a significant tourist industry.
