Dock Ellis
From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.
Dock Ellis (born March 11, 1945) was a former professional baseball player who pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
An All-Star calibre player, he became better-known for two bizarre incidents:
- Beaning Reggie Jackson in the face in apparent retaliation for Reggie's monstrous home run off Ellis in the 1971 All-Star game.
- Pitching a no-hitter while under the influence on LSD. Ellis' account of this story makes for one of the more fascinating readings ever, concerning Major League Baseball.
