Disneyland Hotel
From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.
The Disneyland Hotel is the name of hotels at three of The Walt Disney Company's resorts across the globe.
Disneyland Resort
The Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, California has been operating since 1955, although it was not owned by Disney until the late 1980s. It was originally owned by Jack Wrather, and Disney licensed the name to Wrather. Disney began raising the cost for The Wrather Company to have the privilege of having the Disneyland Monorail travel to the hotel. Eventually, the prices became too high, and Wrather sold the hotel to Disney.
The hotel is comprised of three towers and other smaller buildings. Until 2001, the Disneyland Monorail took guests directly to the hotel's lobby. With the opening of the new Downtown Disney shopping district, the front of the hotel was removed, and the monorail now takes guests to Downtown Disney.
Disneyland Resort Paris
The Disneyland Hotel at the Disneyland Resort Paris in Marne-la-Vallee, France is in an almost completely different style, taking on a late Victorian theme, and with an all-pink exterior. Guests visiting Disneyland Paris must walk underneath the arches of the hotel to get to their destination. It is by far the most luxurious and exclusive hotel in Disneyland Resort Paris.
Hong Kong Disneyland Resort
The third Disneyland Hotel to open is located at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort in Penny's Bay, Lantau Island, Hong Kong. The theme of the hotel is of a tropical cotton plantation, and is located near Disneyland Harbour. The hotel is built on reclaimed land, is scheduled to open with Hong Kong Disneyland park on September 12, 2005. The hotel, as with other buildings in the park, has been completely built using the feng shui technique.
