Discoverer of the Americas

The "discovery" of the Americas is variously attributed to the following people, depending on context and definition:

• Native Americans, the first people to live in the Americas
• Pre-Columbian trans-oceanic contact, such as those made by the Vikings
• European explorers during the "Age of Exploration", such as:
  • Christopher Columbus
  • John Cabot
  • João Vaz Corte-Real
  • Amerigo Vespucci after whom the Americas are named.
