From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

The Diamond Light Source, under construction at a cost of £235m on the site of the CCLRC's Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, near Abingdon in Oxfordshire, UK, is due to come into operation in 2007. It is funded by CCLRC and the Wellcome Trust.

Its synchrotron light radiation source will emit light at wavelengths from X-rays to far infrared that will be used to study the structure of matter.
