- The Canadian Food Inspection Agency announces that it has discovered a possible case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy in a dairy cow. Final results are expected within three to five days. The announcement comes one day after the United States Department of Agriculture announced plans to re-open the border to most Canadian beef exports, including live cattle under 30 months on March 7.
