Darwinbots
From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.
DarwinBots is an artificial life simulator, providing a virtual environment in which a number of agents -called "robots" - interact, fight for resources, and eventually reproduce. Their behaviour is defined by a rather simple programming language.
It separates itself from other Artificial Life programs in the broadness of the simulations possible. Since the program doesn't try to define what is more or less fit than something else, the evolution is open ended. This can make it difficult for new users, since classic problems such as Muller's ratchet pop up frequently, and 'interesting' mutations are seldom seen (at least quickly).
But to the patient user willing to experiment, the program offers a lot more flexibility than other Artificial Life simulators.
In addition to evolution sims, Darwinbots can be seen as a platform for combat between artificially created bots. There are several leagues in existence which rate man made bots against each other.
