Count Luchino Nefaria is a fictional character, a supervillain in Marvel Comics' universe. He is a frequent enemy of The Avengers, and has also fought Iron Man and the X-Men on several occasions. Nefaria possesses vast superhuman abilities; his exact powers are nearly identical to those of Superman, although Nefaria most likely does not possess X-ray vision. He is, however, vulnerable to weapons that use the type of ionic energy that gave him his powers; this same kind of energy also empowered Wonder Man and Atlas.
Nefaria is an influential figure in the Mafia-like Maggia organization, though he has since been succeeded in this position by his daughter, Madame Masque. He has also led several groupings of minor supervillains, usually treating these underlings as minor, disposable pawns.
