Chyle

From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

Chyle is a milky fluid (bodily fluid) consisting of lymph and emulsified fats. It is formed in the small intestine during digestion of ingested fatty foods and taken up by lymph vessels (lacteals) unlike other components of digested food that are conveyed by veins. Technically it is just ordinary lymph fluid that is rich in digested nutrients due to its lymphatic system origins near the gastrointestinal tract.
