Chloric acid
From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.
Chloric Acid (HClO3, CAS 7790-93-4) is a weak acid.
Chloric acid contains chlorate, and thus is an extremely powerful oxidizer. Great care should be taken to keep the acid away from organic compounds or easily reduced compounds.
The acid dissociation constant for chloric acid is approximately 10, only an approximate value due to a relatively high degree of dissociation. Because of this, some consider it a strong acid.
