Very few weapons have been developed by Iraq, the nation instead relying on imports to build most of its conventional forces. However, Iraq did work on developing special programs for weapons unavailable on the foreign market. Primarily, these revolved around modification of existing designs and relied heavily of international assistance. Most Iraqi programs were suspended or abandoned from 1991 on, and were ended completely in 2003.
