Conrad Hal Waddington (1905 — 1975) was a biologist, paleontologist, embryologist and philosopher.
His personal papers are largely kept at Edinburgh University library.
Waddington's theory, the epigenetic landscape.
The Epi-Genetic Landscape With the Epi-Genetic Landscape, the development of genes is meant, and the diverse influences from the environment on the genes on their development on the Epi-Genetic Landscape.
You can interpret this as a landscape and the genes as marbles that roll over the landscape their development as the road they traverse, and the influences as, for example rocks that lay in the way so the genes must take another route
