Dr. Anagnos
Perkins Institute for the Blind
Boston, Massachusetts
To Dr. Anagnos:
I have heard a great deal about you and your Perkins Institute for the Blind, Dr. Anagnos. Dr. Alexander Graham Bell has recommended a teacher, so I am asking you for and eligible trainer. The instructor has to be competent to disciplined and reclaim my daughter, Helen. A six-and-a-half year old girl, she is sightless, unable to hear, and, consequently, speechless.
I am imploring the teacher to be a woman so that Helen could effortlessly communicate and relate to a better extent to the instructor. An mature, knowledgeable, unmarried woman, she has to be tolerant and capable of domesticating and humanizing the uncultivated Helen. The family would provide for her and supply a bedroom. Lastly, she needs a copious amount of determination, stamina, vigor, and enthusiasm. I have confidence in you that you, Dr. Anagnos, would supply the governess to us that corresponds all these characteristics.
As for the salary, you have agreed for $25 per month. As already mentioned, she would be provides food and shelter during her time here.
Thank you, Dr. Anagnos for providing my daughter, Helen, with a congenial teacher. Once again, thank you.
Sincerely,
Capt. Keller
