Avenue D in Alphabet City is Manhattan’s easternmost named avenue, though several thoroughfares (the FDR Drive, for instance) are closer to the East River. The avenue runs between 14th Street and 2nd Street, and continues south of 2nd Street as Columbia Street.
It is the poorest of the East Village streets with Projects on the east side of the street.
