Arnold Manoff

Arnold Manoff (April 25, 1914February 10, 1965) was an American screenwriter who was blacklisted by the Hollywood movie studio bosses in the 1950s.

Manoff's first screenplay was made into a motion picture was released in 1944 with the title "Man from Frisco". Three more of his works were published until he was blacklisted. He moved to New York City in 1950 after his promising Hollywood career had been ruined but he was able to write for television under the pseudynom "Joel Carpenter". Most notably he wrote episodes for the Naked City and The Defenders series.

He was married to actress Lee Grant from 1951 to 1960 and they are the parents of actress Dinah Manoff.
