Antenna aperture

From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

(Redirected from Aperture (antenna))

As an emitter, antenna aperture is the diameter of the cross-section of an antenna's radiation pattern in the direction of highest gain. This is frequently assumed to be circular and given as a radius or the degree of the radiation cone.

As a receiver, antenna aperture is the diameter of a circle constructed broadside to incoming radiation where all radiation passing within the circle is absorbed by the antenna.

See "Antenna (radio)" for more details.
