Anomer

From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

It has been proposed that this article or section be merged with Anomeric carbon.

This request may be discussed on the article's talk page.

In sugar chemistry, an anomer is a special type of epimer. It is a stereoisomer of a saccharide (in the cyclic form) that differs only in its configuration at the hemiacetal or hemiketal carbon.

For example, α-D-glucopyranose and β-D-glucopyranose are anomers.
