Amyl acetate

Amyl acetate is a compound that has a similar scent to bananas and is not detectable by all people. It is an organic compound, with the formula CH3COOC5H11, occurring in isomeric mixtures and used as a flavoring agent, as a paint and lacquer solvent, and in the preparation of penicillin. It is also called banana oil.
